Commentary
The text is partially preserved: the sherd breaks off on either side of nu and epsilon. Inscribed on the shoulder of an askos, it is not likely to be a commerial inscription. The text could have been part of a personal name (ownership graffito), dedication, or a sympotic inscription. One cannot be sure with such a small fragment, but it is likely that the text was inscribed on a complete pot rather than on a sherd.
